China (June 30, 2017) - Chongqing University of Posts and Telecommunications (CQUPT), founded in 1950, is a prominent university in the field of information and communication industry both within and outside China, today announced that it has joined the Industrial Internet Consortium® (IIC), the world’s leading organization transforming business and society by accelerating the adoption of the Industrial Internet of Things. CQUPT is one of the few universities that has been blue-printed and given priority to develop by the State in China, which has cultivated over 90,000 specialists in a variety of fields for more than 60 years, who are now known as the "cradle of specialists in the information industry". Currently, CQUPT has 16 major departments, 53 undergraduate programs, 38 postgraduate programs, and 2 Ph.D programs. CQUPT commits itself to innovations and explorations, and is known as the birthplace of digital communication in China. It holds leading positions in the R&D of wireless network engineering and testing, the next generation wideband wireless communication, computer networking and information security, intelligent information processing, industrial EPA Ethernet, industrial wireless network - WIA-PA and sensor network, advance manufacturing, micro-electronics and specialized chip design. National Industrial Internet of Things International S&T Cooperation Base, CQUPT, China is a team focusing on industrial IoT and industrial internet. It includes Key Laboratory of Industrial IoT & Networked Control (Ministry of Education, China), Chongqing IoT Engineering Technology Research Center (Chongqing Science And Technology Committee, China), Industrial Internet of Things Collaborative Innovation Center (Chongqing Education Committee, China), Chongqing Smart Instrumentation and Control Equipment Engineering Technology Research Center, Chongqing Smart Grid Transmission and Distribution Engineering Technology Research Center, IoT Joint R&D Center. Several international cooperation centers in IIoT area have been built including Green Technology Joint R&D Center (with Cisco, USA), China and Korea Industrial IoT R&D Center, China and Korea Embedded Software and Systems R&D Center, China and Korea Sensor Network Research Center, etc.
The team includes 21 professors and 11 international standards experts, including "National Millions of Talent Project Candidates", "National Outstanding Contributions of Young Experts", "Winner of Special Government Allowance", "National Outstanding Teachers", "Young Top Talent support program", "Chongqing City outstanding youth "and so on. More than 40 National S&T Cooperation Projects, China National S&T Major Projects, and National 863 Projects in IoT areas, in which 2 China National S&T Major Projects are lead by the base. 18 Chinese national and provincial level science prizes are won.
The team developed the world's first industrial networking core chip - CY2420; developed China's industrial automation field of the first fieldbus international standard ---- "EPA standard"; developed the industrial wireless field three major international standards ---- "WIA-PA standard"; and developed the autonomous IPv6 sensor network protocol stack software ---- 6LoWSN, which pass the international gold medal certification. The team is participating in developing many international standards in IoT area in international organization, including IEC, ISO, IETF, ISO/IEC JTC 1 and ITU-T.
CQUPT will exchange experience with other members and industry experts to create and develop critical collaborations within the IIC. CQPUT expects to contribute within the IIC, including leading new test beds and joining existing test beds, which are where the innovation and opportunities of the Industrial Internet – new technologies, new applications, new products, new services, new processes – can be initiated, thought through, and rigorously tested to ascertain their usefulness and viability before coming to market.
